Standalone mode
Hi,
In the section explaing how to get the stand alone mode working I don't understand what you mean by create a new file. Does it mean folder or copying the geekbench executable file? Sorry if this is a silly question but I'm a bit lost.
Thanks for your time.

Can anyone help with this? I've paid for the pro version so I can run it on my home computer as well as laptop and yet I don't understand how to get it working.

The same issue here. What do you mean by create a file? A directory doesn't work.
Help please
Simon

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. What operating system are you using?
Best,
John

Thats ok. Using OS X 10.8.2.

I am on 10.8.2 also, although the same issues "create and empty file" would appear to apply to any version of OSX. Ideally as the standalone version is cross platform, how do you do the same for a PC (I have a few running Win 7 or 98)
Cheers Simon

The easiest way to create an empty file is by using a text editor.
When saving, make sure "If no extension is provided, use .txt" is deselected (see the attached screenshot).
I realize this is a complicated process and we're looking into making it easier in an upcoming version of Geekbench.
Best,
John

Hi, thanks John. That seems to have worked fine. Will it work if I copy it to dropbox as well as a USB stick? Also, will there be any effect on the results running the program from a USB drive as opposed to from the hard drive? Is it best to copy it over to the hard drive before running it?
Thanks for your help.

You should be able to run Geekbench 2 Pro from Dropbox or from a USB stick. If you encounter any problems let me know as I'd like to look into it. There should be no effect on the results, either.
Best,
John
