Has the score baseline changed since early 2011?
I tested my computer Macbook 17" 2.2ghz i7 (early 2011) in March of 2011, and scored 10961. Now, the same computer tests at just 3086 (only differences are more RAM (same speed and tested ok) and a OWC 6G SataIII SSD).
Why the huge reduction in test performance? Has my computer really lost 2/3rds of it's performance in 20 months?

Cliff -
The score baseline hasn't changed; Geekbench 2 scores, regardless of version, should be comparable. There's something wrong with your computer (be it a hardware problem or a software problem). Do you have AppleCare for your machine?
Best,
John

Hi John,
No. Unfortunately I do not have AppleCare on this machine.
Can you suggest any diagnostic software that might be able to dig out what might be wrong with the machine?

Cliff,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I am not aware of any diagnostic software that will be able to tell you what's wrong with your machine.
I took a quick look at your account and noticed that you posted a result with a score more in line with your original result. Could you tell me what you did to fix the problem?
Thanks,
John

I think the computer was in some type of "limp" mode due to a bad battery. Replaced battery, score came back.

Cliff,
I'm glad to hear your computer is back up to speed, and thanks for telling me how you fixed the problem. I'll add it to our list of troubleshooting steps.
Let me know if you ever have any other questions about Geekbench and I'd be happy to help out.
Best,
John
