Mac App Store - No Serial
Hi,
I just purchased Geekbench via Mac App Store. App was installed successfully but is not running and shows up "Enter Serial or Purchase" dialog. But I received no serial.
What can I do?
Kind Regards,
Ralf Bernert

Hi Ralf,
Thanks for purchasing Geekbench, and I'm sorry you're having problems running Geekbench.
Geekbench from the Mac App Store shouldn't ask you for a serial number. You probably have a copy of Geekbench from the Primate Labs website on your Mac (which unfortunately can't get licensing information from the Mac App Store, hence the prompt for your serial number).
Could you delete any and all instances of Geekbench 2 off your Mac, then re-download Geekbench from the Mac App Store? That should fix your problem. If it doesn't, let me know and we'll go from there!
Good luck!
Cheers,
John

I have the same problem. I was using the trial version, then bought from the app store. But the software still thinks I'm on the trial version and prompts for a serial number. The software doesn't seem to be "installed" at all - it only exists in the (apparently identical) dmg files that were downloaded. I don't see that redownloading would help, but if you think it might, how do I redownload?

Hi Nigel,
What's happening here is the trial version confuses the Mac App Store into thinking the purchased version has been installed. If you delete the trial version then you are able to download the purchased version from the Mac App Store.
Once you've deleted the trial version you can download it from the Mac App Store (just go to the Purchases tab in the Mac App Store).
Cheers,
John

That's perfect John, thanks.
What threw me, was that the app was only in my downloads folder, not in Applications. But when I deleted it from there, the App store allowed me to install it again (and correctly put it in the Applications folder).
Nigel
