Hello! I built a new Hackintosh recently and could not wait to benchmark it!

However, Geekbench crashes immediately on launch. Attached is the crash report.

Thanks very much for your help.

    Hi Evan,

Thanks for your message, and I'm sorry you're having problems with Geekbench.

I looked at the crash report you provided and I've seen similar crash reports recently. I've fixed the bug in the latest beta build of Geekbench. Could you download it and see if it fixes the problem for you?

    Thanks,

Wanted to say thanks for the update as this would not run for me after Lion 10.7

Also, I'd like to know what you had to modify for the app to run as I have another app with exact problem & doubtful of quick update. If there's some way of patching or modifying I'd appreciate it. Thanks again!

Unfortunately this fixed required changing the application, so there's no way to patch other applications with the same problem. Sorry!

John, I was experiencing an issue like this, Geekbench would crash when I tried to load it on a new Hackintosh OS X 10.7 build. I downloaded the Beta and it worked fine the first time albeit showing a 1000 point drop on previous Geekbench scores (however as its a Beta I guess not a huge issue).

However on reboot and trying to run it again it crashes. It is repeatable and consistent - crashes every time. I have attached a crash report in case that helps.

    Hi Ken,

Thanks for the crash report. I haven't seen anything similar to this in the past; I'll investigate and will post an updated build here when I've fixed the problem.

Also, regarding your score dropping by 1000 points, I've heard of similar drops from other folks running Hackintoshes. You might have to tweak some settings to get Lion to perform properly on your Hackintosh (I unfortunately don't know what those settings are).

    Thanks,
    John

I did suspect that it may have something to do with my system drive being a NON Apple SSD. I spotted the reference to Garbage Collection being off.

The odd thing is that I had Geekbench working perfectly on this machine a few days ago. That was when I had done an install of Lion on top of Snow Leopard. This time I have done a clean install and oddly got the Geekbench issue. I will be continuing to test here and will no doubt do some more clean and upgrade installs - I will report back here if there is any change.

    John,
thanks for that, unfortunately it also crashes on startup. I will load Lion on another HD tomorrow and see if the problem is repeated.

    John am attaching Crash Report?

    Is this 32bit or 64bit?

My version was the 64bit and my system is using 64bit kernel - I know it can run a 32 bit app but just in case it makes a difference.

John a further bit of feedback - this version does seem to place more load on my machine than the previous one. I can hear the fans speeding up as heat increases almost like stress testing. This is a purely subjective assessment based on my hearing :-).

I will run it on my 2010 Mac Pro as well to check how it behaves on that.

John, my gut feel was right - this version took 1 min 10 seconds to run on the 2010 Mac Pro and also shows a score of more than a 1000 points lower than 2 days ago with version 2.1.13

The results are on my profile - subaru_highlander if you want to look at them. There are only 3 results on my profile for 2010 Mac Pro 1 is from 2 days ago with version 2.1.13 and 2 are from a few minutes ago with the latest Beta you sent me the link to. In fact score is down around 2000 points.

That machine has not had any change either hardware or software in the last 2 days.

    Hope this is useful

    John,

Just run the latest version. Results attached.

It is more or less the same score as Beta 6 - it took over a minute to run on this machine.
