Geekbench not showing correct processor cache information.
I have a 17inch early 2011 MBP and for some reason Geekbench is not show the correct cache information for the processor.
Geekbench says my cache information is:
L1 Instruction Cache: 0.00B
L1 Data Cache: 0.00B
L2 Cache: 1.00MB
L3 Cache: 0.00B
However from what I see it shoule be:
L1 Instruction Cache: 32.0 KB
L1 Data Cache: 32.0 KB
L2 Cache: 256 KB
L3 Cache: 6 MB
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong or how to fix it?
Thank you.

Hi Nathan,
Thanks for your message. This is a known bug in Geekbench where Geekbench misreports processor cache information on Sandy Bridge processors. This bug has been fixed; you can try out the fix in the latest Geekbench 2.2 Beta, or you can wait for the next official release which should be out soon.
You can download the latest Geekbench 2.2 Beta from the following location:
http://www.primatelabs.ca/download/beta/Geekbench22Mac.zip
Best,
John

It seems I can't run the Geekbench beta in 64bit mode because I don't have a license key. I bought it from the Apple Store. Is there anyway to get it to recognize that I've purchased it?
Thank you.

Hi Nathan,
You're welcome. I'm hoping to implement a solution where Mac App Store customers can use Geekbench from the Primate Labs website without needing a separate license key, but for now the separate license key will have to suffice.
If you ever have any other problems or questions about Geekbench let me know and I'd be happy to help out.
Best,
John

Hi Gary,
You can download Geekbench 2.2 for Linux from the following location:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/geekbench/Geekbench-2.2.0-Linux.tar.gz
Geekbench 2.2 should have no problems correctly detecting your system's cache. Please let me know if this is not the case.
Best,
John

Hello John,
I had already downloaded 2.2 when it became available on the web site. This was my result -:
http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/478590
I now have cache information but the CPU, memory and FSB frequencies are missing.
Best Regards,
Gary.

Hi Gary,
It looks like your processor core count is incorrect, too. Could you send me the contents of /proc/cpuinfo for your system? That's where Geekbench gets a lot of its system information, and I'm wondering if there's something unexpected in that file that's throwing Geekbench off.
Also, what distribution are you using?
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
Cpuinfo file attached.
We are running Redhat Enterprise Linux Server 6.1.
Thanks,
Gary.

Thanks for sending the file; it does in fact have some differences Geekbench isn't expecting, hence the missing (or incorrect) system information. I'll fix the problems in Geekbench for an upcoming release.
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
Would there be any influence on that actual benchmark numbers ?
Thanks,
Gary.

So long as Geekbench correctly detects the number of processor threads (or logical processors) there is no effect on the benchmark results.

John
