Some bugs, requests, etc
First of all, great news that VoodooPad has found a new home.
Some of the issues mentioned below are ones I mentioned previously on the Plausible forum.
Bugs (OSX):
- Whenever I try to use the Edit -> Resolve Sync Conflict menu item as prompted, VP crashes and quits.
- If I quit VP with the drawer open (showing the alphabetical list of pages) then restart the app, the drawer will have disappeared. If I then click on the drawer icon in the toolbar to make it reappear, the drawer will slide out and immediately slide back in again. This sometimes happens if I just switch away from the app and back again a few minutes later.
Security issue (iOS):
- If VP is running but hasn't been viewed for a while, it will close down an encrypted document when you return to it (as it should). However, before returning to the app you can still read the last open page simply by double clicking on the home button (which gives you a thumbnail overview of all open apps). Compare this with the LastPass app, which blanks the thumbnail in the overview.
Feature requests:
- OSX: A drop-down list of pages when you click and hold on the back/forward navigation buttons (as in most web browsers)
- OSX: A "new tab" toolbar button which can be configured to show the home page, a list of recent pages, or a list of most accessed pages
- OSX: A "protect tab" feature. A page in a protected tab would be always open. If you clicked on a link on that page, the link would open in a new tab.
- OSX: An easy way to import a web page into VP, preserving formatting and images (like the OneNote web clipper extension).
- OSX: An easy way to access the Dropbox backup of a page (Gus did provide a custom plugin for this as a result of a discussion I had with him, but it seems to have broken in one of the updates).
- iOS: Rich text formatting.
- iOS: Faster syncing. When opening VP on my iPad I frequently have to wait several minutes for pages to sync over Dropbox. This is for a document that only contains plain text pages (no images, no PDFs). If I get impatient and access a page before it's fully synced, I get messy sync conflicts.
- OSX & iOS: Additional security features for encrypted documents - e.g. a preferences setting for the time after which an unviewed encrypted document will be auto-closed, and a way to limit which devices an encrypted VP document can be opened on.
- OSX & iOS: Smarter recognition of web links. At the moment, text is only auto-converted to a web link if it begins with http.

Thank you very much for your feedback! I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you; I've passed on most of your requests to my team, and if you have a few moments I'd love to get a bit more information about two things you've brought up.
Would you mind elaborating on the kind of functionality you'd like to see for accessing the Dropbox backup of a page? A few users have requested different formats for Dropbox saves, so the more information we have on what people are looking for the better.
I'm also having trouble reproducing the issue you described with the page drawer. Could you go into more detail about what happens when you switch away from the app and then go back, and how exactly you're quitting the application, so that I can have a better shot at reproducing this issue on one of our devices?

It just gives an error message when I use it now, but as I recall it worked by opening a page on the Dropbox website with a list of the backups of the current VP page, along with the option to revert to one of them.
Regarding the drawer issue, it happens when I quit VP using Cmd-Q. However, I've just noticed that it only happens on my MacBook Pro, not on my iMac. It may be related to another problem on my MacBook Pro installation of VP, which is that it doesn't automatically reopen the last used document when I start the app.

I'm very sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I've passed your suggestion for backup functionality with Dropbox along to my team, and I'll see if we can incorporate it into a future update.
Would you be able to provide some system details for your MacBook Pro (the model, version of macOS, and version of VoodooPad) so that I can take a closer look at the unusual behaviour?

For the Resolve Sync Conflict crash, could you send us the document that exhibits the crash? I'm having trouble reproducing the issue.

Hi - My MacBook is Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015. I'm running OS 10.12.6 and VoodooPad Version 5.1.8 (5248).
Regarding the Resolve Sync Conflict issue, VP is no longer crashing since the recent update but the menu option doesn't always work - sometimes the comparison window appears but not always. I'd rather not send my main document (which contains passwords) but I'll see if I can duplicate the problem with a new document.
