Failure of VoodooPad to change "Date Modified" after file modification.

Am using voodoopad 5.30 on both mac mini (about 3 years old) running catalina AND macbook pro 2017 4 thunerbolt ports running sierra. on both devices voodoopad does NOT update "Date Modified" after i add, delete, change text unless i create a new page (on macbook pro; have not tested that on macmini). other apps and other files do modify dates appropriately. i am a strict versioner who works on multiple devices (these two and a third old macbook pro) AND keep all original files on an external SSD drive off which i do all original work so that i simply plug it into the device i am using at the time. occasionally however i find that i have a new file on a device and not the SSD drive, but 99% of the time this system (2 years old now) works great for me. when in doubt i use houdahspot to search for filename on all devices and simply doublecheck "Date Modified". i have uninstalled voodoopad on the macmini and re-insalled it with no luck. it used to change date modified so that this seems to be a relatively recent development.

i have never encountered this before in any other app and am clueless as to etiology or remedy

but i simply can not use voodoopad (or any other app) that will not keep track of "Date Modified"

any help appreciated. (and, no, am not interested in changing workflow pattern just to be able to use voodoopad)

thanks
