Mac Version of 5.2 no Longer Remember Open Document Tabs, Position and Size

After applying the update, when I close and re-open a VoodooPad document on my Mac, all information about the main document window is lost including open tabs and size.

I am also having syncing issues with the IOS version so it is possible that this issue is caused by the drop box sync corrupting these setting on the Mac.

    Hi Andrew,

I need to gather a bit more information so we can look into this. What model of Mac and version of MacOS are you using? Where is your copy of the VoodooPad app located on your computer?

    Thanks,

Hi there! I came to post the same question/comment. I've been using VoodooPad to keep my work notes since 2007 - one continuous notebook with notes virtually every working day. This is the first time it's not opened up to the last set of tabs I had open.

    Ditto the issues/concerns.

One of the favorite features that got baked into my work day was opening VoodooPad on the Mac and being able to pick up right where I left off with tabs, position, size, search results, etc. Daily work notes since 2012.

Now it's a repated task to go reposition, resize, and re-open tabs (if I remembered them all). Disappointing to say the least.

Thanks, everyone, for letting us know about this issue. I'm sorry we broke document and window restoration for so many of our users. Right now we're working on a fix for this issue, and it should be available in the next update. We don't have a definitive schedule in place for it yet, but I'm hoping it will be available by the end of May.

I'm also having this issue on macOS Sierra, 10.12.6, MacBook Pro, Retina, 15 inch, mid 2015. The pages drawer also disappears and every time I open a new tab I need to tell it to show the pages drawer for that tab.

I see no improvement in this behavior with VoodooPad 5.2.1

(3 open tabs window larger in the horizonal direction)

Just re-tested this today with VoodooPad 5.2.1 (6316).

Agree with andrewb, no change in behavior seen. Went looking in Preferences to see if there was a new setting for behaviors just in case, but to no avail.

    Hi everyone,

There are still some issues in 5.2.1 with window and document restoration. We have reason to believe that these issues are related to macOS, so we are working with Apple to resolve them. Unfortunately, at this time we don't know when we will have a workaround. I apologize for the trouble this is causing.

There is another thread going on about this topic, if you would like to keep an eye on it. We will update both once we have more information.

I have reason to believe, this is largely the result of the preference option
"Remember Workspace on Quit" is no longer present at it was in VoodooPad 4.3.2.

I am sorry to report that the recently released version 5.2.2 does not fix this issue. I have tried just quitting the application. When I re-open my main working document, all sizing tabs etc have been forgotten. I have tried manually closing my main document and reopening - same behavior.

John - appreciate your apology, but it is not accurate. You did not break the window and document restoration. It was broken when it was acquired by Plausible Labs who updated VoodooPad to 64-bit and in the process removed the option from the startup screen to "Remember Workspace on Quit".

It is an improvement that Primate Labs is at least acknowledging the issue. I suggest you review the last version put out by Flying Meat. 4.3.2 and note that option.
Remember Workspace on Quit. That version, by the way, still works quite well in High Sierra and is what I continue to use. I'm hopeful Primate Labs can fix this before 32-bit is totally removed from the MacOS or I will have to abandon VoodooPad at that time.
    Thank you.

    Hi everyone,

In macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, if you open your macOS System Preferences and check under General, there should be an option that says "Close windows when quitting an app". If you uncheck this option, this should fix the issue with the position and size - and it should also open the previous document. Unfortunately, the tabs you had open will not reopen. Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks for this tip. This of course does what you state. The problem with this still remains however. This is a system wide “fix” for one issue with VoodooPad. I may not want that system wide preference changed for use with other Apps. Please continue trying to fix this with VoodooPad by reimplementing the preference “Remember Workspace on Quit” which was available in previous versions of VoodooPad. Thank you.

    Hi,

I have this issue also, and have to say that the System Preferences "fix" is not a fix for me as I don't want that behaviour in other apps.

It would be great if you could add the missing feature back in.

    Thanks

    Darren.

Developers - is this issue being worked on? I haven’t really heard a definite response from the developers indicating that yes this is an issue that needs fixed and yes it is being worked on. Thanks for any clarification in this regard.

I have updated to 5.2.3 and document-size and open tabs are STILL not remembered, neither when I close the document, nor when I quit Voodoopad.
    (OSX 10.12.6)
We need to have this solved.
