Cannot create link on term "file".
VoodooPad does not allow users to create links to pages with certain common terms, such as "file" and "HTTP". Let's say, for example, that you didn't know about this limitation because it wasn't documented and that you chose VoodooPad as your platform to develop a dynamic wiki-based reference for the Smalltalk language, and you wanted to create a page for the "File" class, which is standard class in Smalltalk... well, you'd be totally screwed wouldn't you.
Nice lesson in how to go from tool to toy in one careless design decision.

Common URL schemes (http, https, mailto, file, and ftp) are not allowed as page names or as link names, as they can prevent the creation of automatic links to URLs. That said, the parser is (slowly!) getting smarter so it might be possible to allow these terms as page names or link names in a future release.

John,
Thanks for the replies to my support questions. I have/had been a fan of
VoodooPad since... let's see... at least as far back as about 2006?...
maybe earlier. I think I dove in at VP 2.x... but I don't remember. It's
been a while.
I spent the past several years remaining steadfastly loyal to VoodooPad,
even as doubts grew. I introduced and extolled VP to a wide array of
friends, students, and colleagues. I always hoped and believed that VP
would evolve into the amazing tool I envisioned. But, I'm out of faith. It
started with my impression of Gus M. as someone who didn't take VP
seriously. That was confirmed when he abandoned the project. At several
points I conducted multiple surveys of possible alternative solutions,
including deep looks into all available wiki systems, Tinderbox, graph
databases systems, knowledge base solutions -- far too many products to
list. At several points I also did some parallel development with
DEVONthink and VoodooPad, but I always ended up sticking with VP. However
about 3 months ago I started work on a programming language
documentation/tutorial system, and I realized in a moment of clarity that
VoodooPad was a fundamentally flawed solution. And in that moment I made a
decision to switch my entire workflow and production environment to
DEVONthink. I'm since convinced I could not have made a better choice. At
this point I have one or two legacy databases still in VoodooPad, but I'm
planning on converting those to DEVONthink this summer.

The fact that you've lost me as a loyal supporter/user should raise a red
flag. I'll tell you straight away that giving up VoodooPad was a immensely
freeing decision. I have absolutely no second thoughts or regrets about
it... except that I wonder why it took me so long.
Funny... I actually considered including here a final list of suggestions
of how I think you could improve VoodooPad. Old habits die hard.
So long,

VoodooPad's not for everyone! I'm glad you found an app that meets your needs.
