week, and I can't seem to pinpoint the issue--been through console
logs activity monitor, looking for something....anything...there is
NOTHING. I was consistently hitting 11000, now if I break 3100 it's
a miracle, for the love of God, my MB late-2008 unibody is kicking
my main machines proverbial ass!...also, lots of SBOD (spinning
beach-ball of death activity for no reason). This is not good, it
will drive me to Shady Pines Home For The Mentally Insane if it
continues much longer. And while I do have a penchant for
occasionally installing too much new SW, I've looked at all my
installs for the past week, and they have all been systematically
removed with no improvement. I love to hear some thoughts regarding
what the hell is going on, and how I remedy this. My machine is
becoming more and more unresponsive by the hour.

of different things that could cause that slowdown. You can rule
out software problems by re-installing the operating system (don't
forget to back up your current system first!) If your scores go
back up then it's a software problem.

If your scores don't go back up then it's a hardware problem.
You'll need to go into your local Apple Store for help. Hopefully
it's something simple like dusty heat sinks or air vents.
