Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. What operating
system are you using?

Best,
Using OS X 10.8.2.

jamesahopetag:support.primatelabs.com,2011-01-31:Comment/236774022013-01-15T12:39:24Z2013-01-15T12:39:25ZStandalone mode

I am on 10.8.2 also, although the same issues "create and empty
file" would appear to apply to any version of OSX. Ideally as the
standalone version is cross platform, how do you do the same for a
PC (I have a few running Win 7 or 98)

Cheers Simon

Simon Whitetag:support.primatelabs.com,2011-01-31:Comment/236774022013-01-15T19:58:43Z2013-01-15T19:58:43ZStandalone mode

James -

The easiest way to create an empty file is by using a text
editor.

Start TextEdit.

Create a new document.

Click on the Format menu, then the Make Plain Text item.

Save the document.

When saving, make sure "If no extension is provided, use .txt"
is deselected (see the attached screenshot).

I realize this is a complicated process and we're looking into
making it easier in an upcoming version of Geekbench.

I copy it to dropbox as well as a USB stick? Also, will there be
any effect on the results running the program from a USB drive as
opposed to from the hard drive? Is it best to copy it over to the
hard drive before running it?

Thanks for your help.

jamesahopetag:support.primatelabs.com,2011-01-31:Comment/236774022013-01-17T00:21:10Z2013-01-17T00:21:10ZStandalone mode

James -

You should be able to run Geekbench 2 Pro from Dropbox or from a
USB stick. If you encounter any problems let me know as I'd like to
look into it. There should be no effect on the results, either.

Best,
