They seem to average around 7300, which is about the same as the Snapdragon 820, a whole three generations earlier, and well behind the previous generation's Snapdragon 845, which scores around 13000 on the Renderscript test.

This test seems to be an outlier. Other GPU benchmarks, such as 3DMark's Slingshot and Slingshot Extreme, and GFXBench's Aztec Ruins, show substantial improvement in the 855's GPU performance compared to earlier generation Qualcomm SoCs. The CPU benchmarks (both on Geekbench and others) also show substantial improvements in the Snapdragon 855.

What explains the Snapdragon 855's poor performance on the Renderscript test?

bgbtag:support.primatelabs.com,2011-01-31:Comment/474120712019-08-13T02:02:35Z2019-08-13T02:02:37ZAndroid Renderscript with Snapdragon 855: why is it so low?

No answer, sorry, but I second your question. I concerns me that neither Qualcomm nor Google have said anything about this. I had imagined that this might presage RenderScript being dropped at Google in favour of technologies from either AMD or the Khronos foundation but once again silence can't confidently be taken as a sign of anything.

ChrisGX
