Do I have to run Geekbench on a new desktop?
Can I run it where there are existing applications?
If there are daemons running on my desktop or laptop, will Geekbench factor them and om and give a score that includes these daemons?

Thanks for posting. You do not have to run Geekbench on a new desktop. Geekbench doesn't factor in background daemons when computing scores -- if a background daemon is consuming a lot of CPU, then that will result in lower Geekbench scores. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be glad to help out.
