Wanted to test battery but not sure how to do that. No instructions or info. Do I just run the benchmark test and still be able to use phone and/or iPad?
Thanks for any advice.

childsuccesstag:support.primatelabs.com,2011-01-31:Comment/444039292018-01-02T19:45:55Z2018-01-02T20:01:11ZHow to use Geekbench 4

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this, and I'm sorry for any confusion. The Geekbench battery score provides an overall measure of your device's battery life while performing processor-intensive tasks. To run a battery test, you can simply start the test and allow it to run, without plugging the device in or turning the screen off. The battery benchmark cannot be run while you're doing other things with the device, so we recommend choosing a time when you don't plan on using the device as normal.

Like all Geekbench scores, battery scores can be compared to scores from other devices to evaluate the performance of your device. Your can read more about interpreting Geekbench scores on our Knowledge Base here.

We intend to release more documentation about the battery test soon which may clear up some confusion, and we are planning to release an update which clarifies some benchmark functionality in the app itself. I'll let you know as soon as I can once we release this documentation.

Is that also instructions for CPU and computing tests. I had tried the compute test but was using the phone for part of the time but test was still running after 20 hours even when not in use overnight.

childsuccesstag:support.primatelabs.com,2011-01-31:Comment/444039292018-01-02T20:00:32Z2018-01-02T20:00:32ZHow to use Geekbench 4

Hi,

Those instructions also apply to the CPU and Compute test, with the exception that you can plug your device in during the CPU and Compute tests if you wish. CPU and Compute benchmarks aren't expected to take longer than 5-15 minutes; it sounds like you're putting Geekbench application in the background during your benchmarks, which prevents it from performing the tests, or that the application is freezing during your tests which isn't expected behaviour. Could you let me know if the tests work on your device when Geekbench is left in the foreground?

I'm happy to hear that the benchmarks completed without issue. Pardon, do you mean that your scores are higher than the example score for your phone's model? If so, that's a good thing; higher scores are better, with double the score indicating double the performance. If that's not what you mean, could you please provide a bit more detail about what you'd like to know?

To run the test i have to leave phone unused for 20 hrs.? Can it be in charging mode or non-charging mode during the test because battery charge getting reduced during the test.
Running the battery benchmark requires leaving the Geekbench 4 application in the foreground for the duration of the test, which means no other apps can or should be used. The battery benchmark also evaluates the rate at which your device is discharging, so it cannot be charging during the benchmark.

The battery benchmark's Full Discharge mode can take up to 20 hours on some devices, but for most phones it takes a substantially shorter time. The battery benchmark's Partial Discharge mode runs for 3 hours at most, though it may provide slightly less accurate results.
