Thanks for reaching out to us. The CPU benchmark in Geekbench 4 runs the same workloads twice -- once with a single processor core, and once with multiple cores. A lower than expected multi-core score indicates that your device could have lower performance for applications that take advantage of multiple cores on a system.

Note that lower than expected scores can also be caused by running your device in low-power mode; if your device entered low-power mode during the multi-core part of the CPU benchmark, your results may not accurately reflect your device's performance.

All the best,

Some reviewers report only 1 Geekbench score, not saying if it
was single core or multicore. In this case, is the score
usually single core or multicore?

Thanks,
John

Johntag:support.primatelabs.com,2011-01-31:Comment/443628282018-06-29T19:44:14Z2018-06-29T19:44:14ZSingle or multi core score.?

Hi John,

I'm afraid that it's difficult to provide a good rule of thumb for this. Ideally, reviewers would explicitly say which scores they are referring to.

In many cases the average single-core and multi-core scores for a device will be substantially different, so you can compare the score provided by the reviewer with scores for similar devices to get an idea of if the score is a single-core or multi-core score. You can find average scores for a variety of devices on the Benchmark Charts of the Geekbench Browser.

Best,

Q. presumably the chip makes the decision as to whether or not it should invoke the assistance of brother multiple cores to complete the task more quickly?

what parameter assists the chip to make that decision?. OR alternatively, what decides whether the task is completed using single or multi cores?

thank you

alan
