I'm having a similar experience - iPad Pro and iPhone 6 Plus Geekbench 3 results much higher than Geekbench 4 results. Is there an explanation?

Hi! I think the reason of scores being lower is because of the new baseline processor that geekbench is comparing your device against i.e its approx 45-50% faster that that processor they used as a baseline for geekbench 3. Just my two cents

While the scores may appear similar, Geekbench 3 and Geekbench 4 scores are not comparable. Both use different baselines and different tests to measure performance.

In a world of GB4 single-core:
28nm SD801: 1018
14nm A57: 1460
28nm A72: 1520
14nm Kryo: 1640
20nm A72: 1720
Bonus:
Snapdragon 810: 1028
Snapdragon 805: 1011
Snapdragon 808: 1132
Is this even relevant?

Geek Junkie,
yup, GB4 has a different baseline than GB3. You can't compare their scores.

The thing is, Apple A9 retained its score while SD820 and Exynos 8890 dropped considerably. We are talking about 2.4K / 4.2K for A9 vs 1.8K / 5.3K here or 1.7K/4.2K for SD820. Something fishy went wrong here. =D

I am surprised to see the difference in benchmarks in GB 3 / 4 but appreciate changes in baselines. Also why have you removed the battery benchmark in GeekBench 4 ?? Did not know this until I payed and installed app

Unfortunately we had to remove the Battery Benchmark from Geekbench 4. We are hoping to reintroduce it at a later date though, so be sure to keep an eye out for future updates!
