Why the drop in my 2011 iMac Geekbench score?

I have a 27" iMac (mid 2011). I've been recording scores over time (using the notes field in my Mactracker app) and mine has dropped significantly. I also notice a lag in Photoshop performance, app launch time, etc.

Here's approx. a one year history:
Geekbench 12/14/14 8024 just installed 10.10.1
Geekbench 1/3/15 8011 OS 10.10.1
Geekbench 2/23/15 8034 10.10.2
Geekbench 2.23 7/24/15 7833 10.10.4
Geekbench 3.3.2 9/19/15 single: 1539 multi: 4905 10.10.4 new HDD after last one failed. All data restored using TimeMachine.

Any suggestions to get my machine humming again would be appreciated.

Incidentally, I've reindexed the Spotlight file, run Oynx, reset NVRAM and SMC, tried safe startup mode before running Geekbench, run disk tools, etc.

    Tim,

For your Mac are you looking at both Geekbench 2 and Geekbench 3 scores? I can't quite tell from your post.

    Thanks,
    John

Correct. Both 2 and 3. A few people have indicated my Mac has a hardware
issue due to failing the hardware diagnostic test and the blowing fans.

    thanks,
