Geekbench 2.2.3 hangs on "Gathering system information"
When I attempt to run Geekbench 2.2.3 on one Windows 32-bit XP SP3 workstation that I have, it never gets past "gathering system information". I have a laptop with XP SP3 that it works just fine on.
Here are the specs that geekbench reports in the window when it starts:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit)
Intel Xeon CPU 5160 @ 3.0.0 GHz @ 3.0.0 GHz
IBM 9228MC1
8.0 GB DDR2 FB SDRAM 334 MHz
I had stopped all 'visible' applications before starting geekbench.

If you run Geekbench from the command prompt does it still hang? You can find instructions on how to install and run Geekbench from the command prompt here:

Thanks,
John

I ran the tool from the command line with "geekbench.exe --benchmark" and the benchmark process DOES complete successfully.
Thanks!

As posted previously: The command prompt version of 2.2.3 worx fine. The windoze version hangs at "gathering system information" at some machines.

Same for me. I have just purchased Geekbench 2.2.3 and run the benchmarks with no other applications running. After 15 minutes the system was still hanging. Progress bar still empty. Tried to run from the command prompt (after installation) with "geekbench --help" but to no avail. Please get back to me with some support. Thanks.

I'm sorry you're having problems running Geekbench. I'm still investigating this issue but I cannot reproduce the problem. I need some diagnostic information from your system to continue. Could you download and install the following Geekbench build?
http://www.primatelabs.ca/download/customer/Geekbench-d341c2-Window...
Open a Command Prompt, run the following command, and send me the output it produces (note that you'll have to install the Geekbench command-line tool; see above for details on how to do that):
Thanks,
John

Same issue with no progress on v2.2.3. Command prompt works fine. But not windows version. Results: http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/538455
A common error in the verbose output was WARNING:windowsprocessor.cpp(160) GetProcessorInformationEx() not found

I'm having the same issue on the two laptops I've tried version 2.2.3 on. Both are the same model laptop. I tried to pipe the results to a file, but it started writing to the command window after a little while. I couldn't copy all of what was written to the screen but I captured what I could. The zip file includes both pieces.
I also uploaded the results. Here is the link I was given.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I'm having trouble fixing this issue as I don't know what the root cause of the issues is yet. If you (or anyone else experiencing this problem) could run some more tests for me I'd appreciate it. All you need to do is download, install, and run the following build (the GUI version, not the command-line version):
http://www.primatelabs.ca/download/customer/Geekbench-d341c3-Window...
After you run the GUI you'll find two log files on your desktop (geekbench_frontend.log and geekbench_backend.log). Could you send these two files to me?
Thanks,
John

Here are the two files. I have to "end task" on the app, so it never finished. I let it run about 3 minutes. It still hung at "gathering system information:.

Hi Barry,
Thanks for the information. I've uploaded a build that might fix the problem. Could you run it and see if it helps? If it doesn't help, could you please send me the two log files it generates?
You can download the build from the following URL:
http://www.primatelabs.ca/download/customer/Geekbench-cda7cc-Window...
Thanks,
John

The problem still happens with this version. Also, the "cancel" button doesn't work when it is hung.

Geekbench 2.2.6 has been released which fixes this problem. You can download this release from the following URL:
