Questions about the score varies

Hello,

      I have two questions during the testing, I used the software Geekbench 2.1 to test it in virtual machine windows server 2008R2.
      The performance varies a lot in different virtualization platform, Hyper-V vs. ESX. about 40% lower in Hyper-V.
      Anohter test is to run the Geekbench in Physical machine (windows server 2008R2) vs. virtual machine Hyper-V/ESX(also the os is win server 2008R2), the vmware/ESX performed 30% higher than even the physical machine, we could not explain the reason behind, could you hlep with this? thanks.

   Hi Jim,

   Thanks for your message.

   We recommend customers use Geekbench 3 to benchmark virtual machines. If for some reason you cannot upgrade to Geekbench 3 we recommend that you use Geekbench 2.4.3 There are a number of issues in Geekbench 2.1 that can affect results on VMs.

   Hi John,

   Thanks so much for the prompt response, one quick question, does this tool perform well in the testing for the windows server 2012/R2, and the server virtual machine, I saw lots of features in the Client(like PC, MAC, Android) rather than the servers.

   like a 32 core(4 P * 8 Cores) server’s performance testing?

   Hi Jim,

   Geekbench 3 is suitable for both client and server benchmarking. While there are known issues on Windows systems with more than 64 cores, Geekbench 3 is tested and works well on systems with 32 cores.
