Processor Frequency Question

I am wondering how geekbench reports processor frequency?

This is a Virtual Machine with the under processors as Intel Xeon CPU E5645 @ 2.40GHz. Geekbench is reporting that the processor frequency is only 1.19GHz. Where is it getting this number from?

Here is the report: http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/561939

Thanks,

    Hi David,

Geekbench reports processor frequency by directly querying the underlying hardware. While this method works quite well with physical machines, it can sometimes fail (or produce incorrect results) with virtual machines.

I'll see if there isn't something I can do to improve processor frequency reporting under virtual machines.

    Best,
    John
